Audi introduced an allraod quattro version of its A4 model. Consumers can now choose from two diesel and one gasoline engines. All of these engines are direct-injected and turbocharged. The allroad quattro version also features Audi’s drive select, S-tronic dual-clutch transmission, and on-board power regeneration system.

The Audi A4 Allroad Quattro converts mechanical power to electricity whenever it decelerates. This translates to a reduced load on the alternator.

On top of the power regeneration system, all three Audi engines are also Euro 5 compliant. The 2- and 3- liter diesel TDI engines come with a six-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter TFSI engine, on the other hand, comes with a seven-speed S-tronic transmission.

All Audi A4 Allroad Quattro versions are designed as permanent all-wheel drives. It houses a purely mechanical center differential which puts more power on the rear wheels, distributing 40:60 ratio of power with the front axle.

The three engines consume competitively low amounts of fuel. The 2-liter TDI diesel engine consumes only 6.4 liters per 100 km, while the 3-liter V6 TDI diesel engine consumes 7.1 liters for every 100 km. If you take in account some extra fuel efficiency tips, I’m sure you might even do a little better.

The gasoline engine consumes a higher amount of fuel, but it’s still competitive for its make. The 2-liter TFSI engine runs on 8.1 liters of gasoline for every 100 km.

The models boast of high straight-line stability, impressive riding comfort, and excellent driving dynamics. These benefits are fruits of several modifications made in the line up: the car’s front axle was reposition to be nearer the axle, and the differential was placed directly in front of the clutch and behind the engine. These improvements made way for better overall weight distribution.

Audi adds to their lineup of cars a diesel-mobilized unit of Q7 3.0 TDI. A breakthrough to date since the crossover Audi has is powered by gas—the major difference among the two releases.

But common notions dictate that Americans are so used to gasoline. The challenge for Audi now is with the buying market, will they prefer diesel?

The vehicle has turbocharged V6 engine with 3.0 liter. It has been packaged by the company as something reliable for drivers at the same time clean and fun to use. The catch is that though it has similar skins of a crossover, it is powered with diesel. This makes up to a difference of almost $3,000 compared to the old one.

With a torque that’s 405 lb-ft, some reviewers question its practicality for short distance travelers. True enough, Audi wants to prove that it sticks to the way it is packaged. With enough space in the back part of the vehicle for gears for long travel, Q7 3.0 TDI would make a good transportation for road trippers or for those who regularly take a long distance trip.

On engine talk, the unit rates at 225 horsepower. Mix that with the torque; this unit can peak at 130 mph. It can even perform from 0-60 in just 7.9 seconds. Something suburban drivers or car owners may like.

Technically, this unit is good enough. It has a low-end torque that is still satisfying.
Gas or diesel, consumers may overlook this issue. Audi chooses to dwell on issues like practicality and performance.
