Audi fans sure have good smiles this week as new Audi wagons were one by one unwrapped during the Detroit Motor Show. The first to be unveiled is the concept car Q3 Vail which will be hitting the production line by the third quarter of this year. The next edition of the A4 Allroad was also rolled out during the show. And the latest reveal is the new version of the A6 Allroad Quattro.

The new A6 Allroad actually stretches the capability of the Avant and giving it the off-road capability the sure performs well beyond the asphalt. The overall performance also improves with better fuel consumption jump of as much as twenty percent.

The new Audi A6 Allroad is a bit bigger than the Avant with dimensions of 4.94 m x 1.9m x 1.47m. The body is true to Audi’s principle of lightweight architecture with about 20% of the body made from aluminum components. The A6 tips the scales 154 lbs lighter than its older sibling.

The design lines also gives the vehicle a very distinct stance with sharp lines serving as margins for the taut srufaces plus the roofline blending well with the D-pillars. The head and tail lights has an option to use advanced LED technology. The car’s exhaust system ends up with two big and flat tailpipes.

The interior of the car has a lot of space attributed to the 2.91 meters of wheelbase. The foce.us is clearly on elegance, ergonomics, and craftsmanship. The compartment of the A6 Allroad can carry about 565 liters of luggage that can be increased to 1,680 liters when you fold the rear seats.

It also boasts of a high end infotainment system which has the MMI navigation, 8-inch monitor, and Bang & Olufsen sound system as its primary components.

The Audi A6 Allroad will give consumers four options of 3.0L V6 engine with direct injection and turbocharging.. There will be one TFSI engine running on gas and the three TDI powerplants.

The TFSI engine will be able to output 310 horsepower bring the car from 0 to 100 kph in a matter of 5.9 seconds. The TDI variants will offer 204hp, 245 hp, or 313 hp. The most powerful TDI is paired with the 8-speed triptronic gearbox while the other engines are coupled with the S tronic transmission with seven speeds.

Car manufacturers who have been looking into making their vehicles lighter makes use of carbon fiber in the recent years but it is not really the only material that they can tap to, Audi will be making use of aluminum in the next production of Audi R8 that will roll out in 2014.

The second generation Audi R8 will be donning a combo of carbon fiber and aluminum. This was revealed during a recent interview of Audi top engineer Michael Dick. The choice might be odd considering that Audi has a close tie with Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini which has a monocoque configuration made of carbon fiber for the Aventador, and that they have to face a tough McLaren competition in the market. The Audi executive though explained that the combination of the two materials may actually end up even better.

The production of the Audi R8′s hybrid aluminum and carbon fiber structure will actually cost more but it will be lighter than the current monocoque that we know of today. Using the combination of the two materials, Audi promises to have the R8 lighter by about 45 pounds to the current R8 which hits the scales at 490 pounds.

The body work, components of the engine, suspension system, and electronics are also expected to make use of lighter materials to be consistent with the goal of the car manufacturer to make the new Audi R8 the lightest in its segment. The R8 will try to catch up with the 2012 911 of Porsche by the Volkswagen Group that is around 350 pounds lighter than the R8 now.

The rigidity of the Audi R8 will also improve by 30% or about 29,498 lb-ft in every degree. This number is a lot better than the 458 Italia by Ferrari and the Aventador of Lamborghini.

Audi is not releasing a lot of details about the new R8 but it might be getting a V8 with twin-turbo which was recently used for the S8, S7 and S6.

German car manufacturer, Audi, has released the official sketches of their brand new electric concept car that will make its debut appearance at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The new electric concept car is called the Urban Concept, which is a two-seater unit intended for city driving. Inside Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, they’re calling this car the “future mobility project.”

The new Urban Concept car is being geared towards a new range of models that are intended for city driving. This new range will go into head-to-head competition with the BMW’s i models and Mercedes-Benz’s Smart models. According to official word from Germany, the Urban Concept Car is really not intended for production.

In the center of the new range models is the Audi A2. Insider reports suggest that the redesigned A2 will be released with a plug-in electric drivelines as well as a range-extender features.

Insiders suggest that the Urban Concept car took inspiration from other German cars like the famed three-seater Messerschmitt Kabinenroller, which is commonly known as the Bubble Car.

Other German models like the Isetta 250 and Goggomobil T250 are also seen influential in the Urban Concept car by Audi that combines traditional design details from old favorites. There’s the angular headlights, loud shoulder, aeronautical-based designed cues, and big single-frame grille look. You won’t find doors in the Urban Concept, rather there’s the roof section features a canopy where entry is made through a narrow cabin.

According to the Audi press release, the Urban Concept car is a plug-in electric car that is powered by two electric motors.

While the Audi A5 continues to get a revamped look every now and then, the German automaker recently revealed the upgraded versions of the S5 lineup, which is the bolder and sportier version of its 2012 A5 lineup. The S5 lineup is available in 3 types—sportback, cabriolet, and coupe. Perhaps the most significant upgrade the S5 lineup got is its new 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged engine, the same one that’s attached to the S5s Convertible and the Sportback. The S5 used to carry a 4.2-liter V8 engine that has 354 ponies and 324.5 lb-ft of torque.

The new S5 engine, which is a 3.0 TSI, is packed with 333 ponies and the same torque value. This new engine pushes the revamped S5 Coupe to an impressive 62mph in just 4.9 seconds, which is significantly 0.2 seconds faster compared to the old V-8 engine model. With the new S5 engine in place, the car has a top speed of 155mph or 250 km/h.

The amazing part is that the new V-6 engine model not only improves the car’s performance in terms of speed but also lowers the fuel consumption by up to 20 percent per 100 kilometers.

We’ve spent enough time under the hood, now let’s talk about other upgrades on the S5 model. The old model has a 4-wheel drive system. The new model now has the so-called “crown-gear center differential.” There’s also a new electromechanical power steering mechanism involved in the new model plus some distinct changes in the body details, front lights, pain finishes and trim.

Audi fans have been eagerly awaiting the official launch of the Q3 crossover from Audi and details are being revealed as the unveiling nears. The Audi Q3 is designed to meet head on the BLK or GLC from Mercedes-Benz and the X1 from BMW.

Spy images are very scarce on the internet but the Q3 is expected to have the design lines of the Cross Coupe concept that was exhibited during the Shanghai auto show back in 2007. Earlier spy photos of the Q3 protoype hint of a prominent grille, distinct headlamps, and sloped roofline. The smalles SUV will be deriving its DNA from the platform of the VW Tiguan with a suspension system tuned to make the riding experience sportier.

The Audi Q3 will have three engine options. Consumers can opt for the 2.0L TFSI that gives out 168 hp or 208 hp. Another option will be the 2.0L TDI that produces 168 hp. These powerplants will be mated to the usual Audi transmisision choices. Carbon dioxide emissions may hit 158 grams per kilometer through 184 g/km.

The Audi Q3 might be unveiled during the upcoming motor show in Frankfurt with first deliveries in Germany on September or October. The Audi Q3 will be marketed side by side Audi’s bigger SUVs the Q5 and the Q7. Production will likely take place at the Seat plant in Spain.

Audi actually claimed all podium position finishing 1-2-3 after the challenge of Peugeot collapsed.

It was an unfortunate scenario for Peugeot which seemed to be on its way to victory when issues on reliability haunted the 908s during the race and all of the Peugeots go into halt before the finish line.

With the collapse of the Peugeot attack, the Audi R15s which struggled with the Peugeots from start of the race just stepped on the pedal to complete the remaining laps.

The team of Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Berhard, and Romain Dumas clinched the first on their first ever Le Mans together. The second podium was claimed by the team of Benoit Treluyer, Marcel Fassler, and Andre Lotterer.

The favored team of Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen, and Allan McNish got into trouble when they got involved in a controversial collision. They were able to recover and finished the raise on the third podium.

The family effort of Nigel Mansell and his sons Greg and Leo lasted only seventeen minutes when the trio was forced out of the track due to a slow puncture during the early part of the race.

Like driving a car riding a motorcycle comes with a requirement that you have insurance. While you may think that bike insurance and car insurance are the same that is not actually true. Although they do share many things in common there are some important differences. The biggest difference is how you are covered if you get hurt in an accident. It is important that you know the difference between bike insurance and car insurance if you ride a motorcycle. Otherwise you could find out the hard way just what is different between the two.

The biggest difference between bike insurance and car insurance is what is actually covered by the policy. Both car and bikes are insured to cover any damage that you cause to somebody else in an accident. However insurance on a bike does not necessarily cover any injuries that are suffered by your passengers. In the event of a car accident your liability insurance will cover any injuries suffered by a passenger in your car. This coverage has to be purchased separately for a motorcycle, a passenger isn’t automatically covered, according to the experts at www.carolenash.com.

Motorcycle insurance also requires you to purchase personal injury coverage separately, you are not automatically covered in the event you get injured. This is because of the greater likelihood of injury to the rider of a motorcycle in the event of an accident. It is important that you purchase personal injury insurance if you are going to ride a bike because the chances of being hurt in an accident are pretty good.

Like cars, comprehensive insurance is available for bikes, however in the case of motorcycles it is often required. Comprehensive insurance covers you for any damage that is suffered by the bike in an accident that you caused. It also covers you in the event of theft, vandalism or damage caused by and act of nature. If you took out a loan to buy your bike the lender will almost certainly require that you have comprehensive insurance. This is because the because is collateral for the loan, and they want to make sure that you will continue to make your payments even if the bike gets written off. Because bikes are more likely to be involved in an accident and to suffer serious damage if they are in an accident the lender will require comprehensive insurance on a bike but not on a car.

There are a number of advantages to riding a motorcycle, one of them is that they are cheaper to insure. However before you run out an buy a bike it is important that you know how bike insurance is different from car insurance. The last thing you want to do is learn about the differences after an accident.

Audi is currently selling the R8 as the original V-8 4.2L model and the V-10 5.2L rolling hot as a hardtop coupe or as the R8 Spyder convertible.

Audi is set to expand the R8 lineup with new members of their garage. They will be pulling the cover off the first addition before 2010 is over. This will be an R8 Spyder variant sporting a V-8 under its hood. The tag price for this one will be starting at $135,000 hitting the showrooms by 2011.

The other version will actually be a sportier model compared to the current R8. The new Audi will draw some DNA from the R8 LMS. Last year, the team developing the Audi quattro gave hits of a lighter TT and R8. Back in 2005, Audi did the same to the TT when a sportier limited edition was released with firmer suspension, Recaro racing seats, stripped interior, and more powerful engine.

An R8 prototype was recently spotted in Germany donning some fixed wing at the rear, bigger brakes, and front bumper with small canards.

There has been no official word if the spied car will get an RS badge or whether will it be called as the R8 Sport.

The R tronic transmission of the current R8 range will be replaced with 7-speed dual clutch. The manual six-speed will still remain as standard.

After the great response of the public to the e-Tron EV concept at Los Angeles, Frankfurt, and Detroit Auto shows, Audi revealed that their entire range of electric coupes will carry the e-tron branding and that the roll out of the electric supercars will be limited.

The carmaker appears to be eyeing a similar strategy of how they marketed the legendary Audi Quattro. So we can expect that the e-Tron brand will have the same angst, power, and distinction when it goes to production two years from now.

The first batch of e-Trons will be assembled in Ingolstadt where they also do their electric car research, testing, and designing. The expected end goal is to produce at least 1,000 units of the e-Trons though it has not been revealed which Audi factory will handle the production.

It is also not yet clear whether the e-Tron production car will have DNA traces from the 2010 R8 mid engine speed monster or will it be based on the two-seater R4 coupe. The production version of the R4 shares some understructure with a future roadster coming out of the Volkswagen garage, and even with the new Boxster and Cayman from Porsche. Audi might even come up with an electric version of the R4 and the R8 down the road.

Like most of the European carmakers, Audi is not looking into large scale production of zero emission vehicles within the next several years. The small number of Audi e-Trons is just in preparation for the eventual fulfillment of the demand for better vehicle efficiency and decreased emission.

The Audi RS4 which was released back in 2005 was not expected by everyone to meet headon the BMW M3. Thanks to the quattro AWD, good weight distribution, and a powerful V-8, the RS4 was able to upset its rivals. We are not expecting a replacement of the RS4 since Audi only releases the new version during the final years of a car’s run but carmaker is set to unveil the RS5 to fill in the gap.

The 2011 RS5 from Audi will be uncovered during the Geneva Motor Show this March, and it will have an upgraded powerplant from the RS4 under its hood. The RS5 will have an FSI V-8 engine with a displacement of 4.2L. The engine will have an output of 450 horsepower and will have a torque of 317.15 pound feet between 4000 and 6000 rpm.

The powerful engine of the RS5 will be coupled with a dual clutch gearbox that allows you to shift on 7 speeds with S tronic. The car will also have a center differential for the quattro AWD. The new Audi speed machine can rush from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds and is expected to have a top speed of 174 mph.

Despite the impressive performance numbers, the car manages to have a fuel mileage of 21.8 miles per gallon.

Audi will also offer styling packages to give the car a matt or black aluminum look. There will also be available upgrades for the exhaust that can be matched with black tailpipes. The engine compartment will have a carbon design pack.

The European market will have the first taste of the Audi RS5 Sports Car when it comes this July. Spy shots of the car in U.S. soils also suggest a possible sale in the region.
